One excellent drug for treating COPD is Tudorza. With Tudorza, those suffering from COPD can eliminate or reduce the severity of symptoms such as difficulty breathing, wheezing, excessive coughing and shortness of breath. Belonging to a class of drugs called anticholinergics, it works by relaxing the muscles of the airways to reduce inflammation. The best part about this medication is that it is long-acting, so that you don’t lose any time at work, or have to stop what you are doing inside or out of the home.  However, it should be noted that it cannot provide fast relief of symptoms, so you may need another quick-relief inhaler medication to go along with it if symptoms are unbearable. This medication should be taken every 12 hours for maximum effectiveness. Common side effects include headache and other common cold symptoms.

Spiriva is an inhalation spray that also belongs to the class of drugs called anticholinergics. Like Tudorza, it can prevent symptoms like wheezing and shortness of breath. It works by relaxing the muscles around the airways to allow for easier breathing. Unlike Tudorza, however, you only need a couple of sprays once-daily, so you don’t need to schedule reminders on your phone. Nevertheless, you should always take the medication around the same time per day. It’s also important not to increase the dose to any more than two sprays in a 24-hour period. Side effects often include dry mouth and dizziness, but these symptoms should not persist or worsen over time.

Pulmicort works by suppressing the immune system, thereby reducing swelling and irritation in the airways. Pulmicort is a type of inhaled corticosteroid that is used with a nebulizer. The nebulizer is a device that delivers drugs into the lungs by turning a medication into a mist that can be inhaled. Like the other two medications on the list, it does not work immediately, but is most effective in preventing symptoms from recurring. This medication can be taken once or twice each day - as directed by6 your doctor. Side effects may include dry mouth, runny nose and changes in your voice. Talk to your doctor about Pulmicort or any of the medications mentioned above.
