The 2018 Jaguar F-Pace - Crossover Sport

The 2018 Jaguar F-Pace might be a crossover SUV, but it is also still a Jaguar—and that means it’s going to have the spirit of a sports car. A new engine is added this year in this fairly new version of the Jaguar, which is sized somewhere between a small and midsize vehicle. Even so, it is priced similar to the smaller sized SUVs in its class. Also new is an app that allows you to pay for your gas from inside the car. The Jaguar F-Pace is a solid contender in the sports-luxury SUV market. There are some nice engine options, so you can be as sporty as you like, or as tame as you like. The diesel also provides great gas mileage. Jaguar also increased the size of its infotainment center to as much as 14 inches. Other additions make this an off-road capable vehicle, with things like all surface progress control and adaptive dynamics drive which helps you go in just about any condition of road.

Last year’s model had a V6 gasoline engine and a diesel-powered engine. A turbocharged four-cylinder unit has been added the engine lineup this year. This engine comes with the base model and cranks out 247 horsepower. Also new is forward traffic detection and forward collision guidance, which were added to the safety package. There are also some other minor refinements in the design and the interior that give it a more luxurious look.

The F-Pace can be a diesel or a gas-powered vehicle, and all-wheel drive is standard. The engines start with a 2.0-liter turbo four cylinder that has 247-horsepower and 269 foot-pounds of torque and this is the new engine this year. The larger gas engine is a 3.0-liter supercharged V7 that can put out 340 or 380 horsepower. The diesel is also a turbo and a four-cylinder that has 180 horsepower and 318 foot-pounds of torque. An eight-speed transmission is standard in all the trim packages. The largest engine can get to 60 in 5.4 seconds, and can stop from 60 in 102 feet. It does have a little bit of off-road capability. It handles well on curvy roads, but it can get a little unruly if you hit bumps at high speed.

The Jaguar F-Pace has five trim levels: base, premium, r-sport, S and Portfolio. Each package builds on the other one, and there are several special packages available. The base package has 28-inch wheels, simulated leather upholstery, and an 8-inch infotainment screen. Premium adds 19-inch wheels and adds a rearview camera which are standard. Several packages are available beginning at this level. The prestige package adds real leather upholstery and keyless entry. Adaptive dynamics package can also be added. The R-sport gets 20-inch wheels added and a sports package. The S is like the Sports trim but has a larger engine with 40 more horsepower. The Portfolio has all that, and adds most of the special packages as standard.

The Jaguar F-Pace comes with the latest technology that is making all cars safer. It has active cruise control, forward collision warning, lane keep help, and they can all be adjusted for sensitivity. Other safety features include driver condition monitoring, blind spot warning and emergency braking at low speeds. There is a display, similar to the infotainment system, that has a lot of driver information. There is some voice control available for playing music, but not for navigation.
